SISTEMA calculation and protocol according to EN ISO 13849-1
If your machine has technical protective measures, such as
- emergency stop device;
- light curtain or laser scanner;
- door interlocks;
- drive control (STO, SS1, SS2, SLS, SOS…);
- etc.
then the risk-reducing measures implemented with controlsystem, safety functions, for which it is necessary to prepare the evaluation, since which it can be decided that the failure probability and reliability of these safety functions meet the expected level, are sufficiently able to maintain their risk-reducing function. This is a part of the risk assessment of the machine, which concerns the operation of the control system (functional safety).
For this, we use the well-proven and widely accepted SISTEMA software, with which we can perform validation according to the EN ISO 13849-1 and -2 standards. After using the data and parameters of the control system, the software generates a report, which will be part of the risk assessment of the machine, as a proof of the risk reduction method. In this way, the manufacturer can ensure that the reliability of all safety functions implemented by the control system used on his machine is adequate, taking into account the operating conditions and the tools used.
In order to be able to carry out the evaluation, it is necessary the following parameters and characteristic:
- a list of the safety functions on the machine and a description of the corresponding dangerous area (robot, laser, rotating table etc.);
- machine operation data;
- the number of times of access to the protected space;
- type of control devices implementing safety functions (manufacturer data);
- safety controller source code;
- electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic plans.
Based on the information received, we prepare the SISTEMA calculation. In the event that the PL performance level of a safety function is not at an acceptable level, we propose to improve it. Using the software, the evaluation process can be done quickly.
